“Birmingham is a special place for me” says Ritchie

Prior to our show at Birmingham’s Crescent Theatre, we caught up with Ritchie Hicks, one of the front men of the show.

“Birmingham is a special place for me” said Ritchie.

“My maternal family came from Birmingham on my granddad’s side. He was born in the north of the City in 1924 in a large family of brothers and sisters. By the mid 1990’s most of his family were still living in Brum, in places such as Kings Heath” head said.

“I spent many days in the City and remember fondly watching planes take off from the end of the runway. I’ve always been struck by how many green open spaces Birmingham has. There are a lot of other cities which could take a leaf out of that book!” he said.

“My aunt – Emily – was blind all of her life and raised thousands of pounds for Guide Dogs for the blind. We used to visit her often in her little home in Longfield Road near Frankley Green. Then there was the occasional visit Cadbury World; every kids dream!”

The show starts this Saturday at 19:30. See you there?
